Bay Aging concluded Older Americans Month (OAM) 2025 with its annual May Day Celebration on May 30, bringing together Bay Aging staff, leadership, Board of Directors, and their Active Lifestyle Center (ALC) clients at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. This cherished event honored the national OAM theme, “Flip the Script on Aging,” which encourages communities to challenge stereotypes, celebrate the contributions of older adults, and embrace opportunities for purpose, connection, and engagement.
The day kicked off with a warm welcome from Bay Aging President & CEO, Kathy Vesley, who set the tone for a joyful and inclusive celebration. Attendees included Board members Dr. Barry Gross of Gloucester County, Jim Dudley of Middlesex County, and Bruce Craig of Northumberland County, alongside Active Lifestyle Center (ALC) members from across the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck.
“This event is one that so many of us look forward to each year,” said one ALC participant. “It really makes us feel celebrated.”
Festivities included lively music from two local DJs, dancing, and a round of door prizes. A delicious lunch, featuring fried chicken, pulled pork, and sides catered by the Deltaville Market, was served by Bay Aging staff and Board members.
The May Day Celebration highlights Bay Aging’s commitment to fostering vibrant, inclusive communities where older adults can thrive. “Flip the Script on Aging” challenges us to rethink aging – not as a period of decline or dread, but as a time full of opportunities to learn, grow, and give back.
