Home Care

While caring for clients in their homes, Bay Aging takes pride in providing assistance to maintain independent living and developing personal relationships. We provide assistance with activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring, and walking assistance. We also provide companionship, socialization and can assist with daily housekeeping chores like meal preparation and laundry.

Insurance Counseling

In 2018, nearly 1,000 people of all ages made more informed decisions through insurance counseling and education, with over 100 people alone saving more than $230 thousand in Medicare plan costs.

Virginia Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP)

The Virginia Senior Medicare Patrol’s (SMP) mission is to empower and assist Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to prevent, detect, and report health care fraud, errors, and abuse through outreach, counseling, and education.  The Virginia SMP works with local AAA’s and volunteers to provide information, conduct educational presentations and attend events to share information with the public.

Adult Day Care Center

Bay Aging manages an Adult Day Care Center to give people the care, socialization, and supervision they need in a community setting. Bay Aging’s Adult Day Care Center in Gloucester helps caregivers and family find respite from the demanding responsibilities of 24-hour care. Transportation is available for day care participants.

Active Lifestyle Centers

Bay Aging manages eight Active Lifestyle Centers throughout the region. These centers provide a sense of community and socialization for seniors who wish to remain active and involved. All centers offer an array of fun and healthy activities and serve lunch on days they are open. A complete listing of Bay Aging’s Active Lifestyle Centers can be found below.


Senior Employment Training

Working at every age can fuel healthy living in many ways. It gives us purpose, activity and social interaction. Bay Aging provides senior employment training services for people 55 or over who want to re-enter the workplace with marketable skills.

Meals on Wheels

Home delivered meals are available to any person age 60 and older who meets program eligibility requirements. Volunteers deliver a hot, nutritional meal to the homebound frail and seniors daily. Bay Aging delivers about 166,000 meals annually.

Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP)

Bay Aging’s VICAP is part of a national network of programs that offers, free, unbiased, confidential counseling and assistance for to help people navigate the complexities of Medicare enrollment. VICAP coordinators and volunteers provide education, counseling and assistance to older consumers and people with disability insurance on topics such as medical benefits programs, long-term care insurance, Medicare and Medicaid.

Veteran Directed Care

For eligible veterans of any age who are at risk of nursing home placement. Veterans can receive care at home and continue to live independently longer. Bay Aging is the only Area Agency on Aging in Virginia actively receiving referrals for this service using the Hub & Spoke model. Bay Aging is also a nationally approved Financial Management Services provider for the Veteran Directed Care program.

VAAACares® is is dedicated to coaching people at risk of 30-day hospital readmission. Care Transitions Intervention is the evidence-based model used by VAAACares® coaches.

Active Lifestyle Centers

Active Lifestyle Centers provide a sense of community and socialization for seniors who wish to remain active and involved.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman

Receives, investigates and works to resolve complaints involving quality of care, resident’s rights and quality of life for those who are in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities and those who receive community-based care services.

We customize services to meet your changing needs. More than just providing assistance with activities of daily living, we employ compassionate professionals who are devoted to engaging with their clients in meaningful ways.

Bay Aging manages an Adult Day Care Center in Gloucester  to provide people with needed care, socialization and supervision in a community setting, as well as bring caregivers much needed respite from the demanding responsibilities of providing 24-hour care.

Transportation is available for day care participants.

Bay Aging offers Adult Day Care services located in Gloucester County on Fiddler’s Green Road. Our center is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. We offer excellent care for your loved one.

The staff at our center provides supervision, assistance/supports with ADLs/IADLs, recreational therapies, activities, outings, gardening, crafts, exercises and visits from our community members in a safe, secure and loving environment. All direct staff are CNAs and Medication Aides.

Transportation can be arranged through Bay Transit for those who are able to ride the bus independently. If you, or your loved one, are in need of respite care, please reach out to us to schedule a tour.

If you currently have Medicaid and are enrolled CCC+, Medicaid will pay for the daily costs. If you are a veteran and are established with a PCP at the VA, you may qualify for your care paid for by the VA.

Many of our participants pay privately for services which are $70 for a full day and $40 for a half day (4 hours or under). The cost of the program also includes a homecooked breakfast and lunch along with daily snacks.

Participants can schedule to attend 5 days per week, or as little as one day per week, whatever suits the needs best. In order to qualify for services, you must have a medical necessity to include Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Cognitive Decline, or a Development Disability. We proudly serve all individuals in our community from ages 18 and up.
